The book is divided in two parts. The first part is a history of the cars and, to an extent, the company from the meeting of the German engineer and inventor Gottlieb Daimler and the British engineer and businessman F. R. Simms (founder of the Daimler Motor Syndicate in the UK) to the end of the Second World War. The second part gives detailed descriptions of all the Daimler car models designed and built between the end of the War and the publication of the book in 1972, ending with a preview of the then-unreleased Double-Six of 1973. Despite the age of the book limiting its scope, it includes all the important post-war Daimlers, as every Daimler since 1970 has been at least Jaguar-based and at most a Jaguar with some Daimler trimmings.
