The Soviets took the Korean War very seriously, committing whole fighter divisions and some of their top World War II aces much earlier in the conflict than we ever thought they had. Contrary to what we have always assumed, the MiG-15s were flown almost exclusively by Soviet pilots during the first year of the war, and the Soviets lost nearly 350 MiGs in combat.
