On 1 May 1994 the man widely regarded as the greatest driver of all time came to a corner called Tamburello in the San Marino Grand Prix, in Italy. His car did not take the corner. It travelled at vast speed into a wall. Ayrton Senna died in hospital later that afternoon, leaving the motorsport world shrouded in utter grief. Christopher Hilton charted Senna's early career in The Hard Edge ofGen/us. His sequel, The Second Coming, published just before San Marino, chronicled what were to be the final three years of his life, up to the beginning of 1994 and his move from Marlboro McLaren to the Rothmans Williams Renault team. This updated edition completes the story, examining the fatal crash and its global repercussions. Affectionately written, and with Senna's own insights and the comments of those who worked with him and drove against him, this is a sincere tribute. It portrays his growing maturity as he won a third World Championship, follows him closely after that as he pitted his formidable intellect and skills against Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost.
