Pit & Paddock The Premise
With a huge collection of historic motor racing images, magazines, books, race programs and memorabilia, Auto-Archives non-profit Automotive Library and Research Centre felt that the best way to share such an impressive array of motoring history was by highlighting a special group of Peter Darley images, and presenting them in a fabulous, large format book, titled 'Pit & Paddock'. "There is no point of having such an impressive archive if no one gets to see and enjoy it" Auto-Archives Board Member Jimmy Aretakis commented.
Coterie Press works with Auto-Archives Library
Overwhelmed with the incredible support from the many enthusiasts who have already made their 'Commitment to Buy' (as detailed below), we are on track to send Pit & Paddock to press this summer. We are currently conducting some final research to help with writing the captions, as well as completing the final image retouching. As a major 'thank you' for supporting the project, every enthusiasts who pre-orders Pit & Paddock will have their name printed in the book. Luckily for those of you who haven't yet 'committed', we still have room for 40 people to get their names in the book. Go ahead and scroll down the page to pre-order your copy of either a Limited Edition or a special Publishers' Edition. If you are a Sir Jackie Stewart or Dan Gurney fan, look out for the incredible 20x16-inch metallic prints which Jackie and Dan personally signed, and which we are selling to support the funding of the Pit & Paddock project.
The Publishers' Edition Book
The Leather bound, signed and numbered, Publishers' Edition of Pit & Paddock is presented in a blue cloth-covered clamshell case, with the P&P logo embossed in silver-foil on the cover. With a Foreword written by Lord March, Pit & Paddock is a high-quality, 12x12inch large format, 256-page hardback book, featuring over 200 images from the Auto-Archives library. Taken by Peter Darley in the 1960s and 70s, these evocative images will give the reader a behind the scenes look into the pit and paddock at ten historic European race circuits. These unique never before seen images portray a world that is sadly long gone. The Publishers' Edition will be shipped in strong protective packaging to ensure safe delivery.
