The 1970s were very much the decade of the specialist superbike builders - small independent concerns who tailored their machines to the highest personal standards, displayig a flair and creativity beyond the reach of the large manufacturers. This pictorial history recalls all the leading names of the time - Dunstall, Read Titan, Rickman, Munch, Bimota, Magni and others - illustrating their products in telling detail, and recalling their performance in competition and in the marketplace. Many of the contemporary photographs come from the author's own collection.
