Fourteen years after its introduction the 911 SC had increased engine capacity of 3-litres. Five-speed gearboxes were standardised for all markets and the 911 SC was available in either coupe or targa-top form. The Turbo models had a new 3.3-litre engine. Major improvements were made to the engine of the 1981-model cars with better fuel economy. In 1982 the SC could have the Turbo-style air dam and rear wing and in 1983 the Turbo's engine was modified. The first cabriolets came in 1983. The next major model change was for the 1984 season. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, specification and technical data, new model introductions & driver's impressions, long-term tests & history. 172 pages, 450 illus.
