When some of the biggest names and hardest hitters in the motoring industry decided to pool their collective genius to produce a sporting motorcycle, the finished product was always going to be spectacular. At the inception of the project Cagiva had just acquired the MV Agusta trademark, a name instantly associated with record breaking success in motorcycle racing, and with some of the most exciting road bikes ever produced. The MV Agusta F4 was finally finished in 1998, a stunningly beautiful and cleverly engineered work of Italian automotive art, bristling with race bred technology and styled in the classic red and silver finish of the MV Agusta marque. I felt honoured to be asked to write the foreword for a collection of reviews about such a seminal motorcycle. I am also delighted to share the passion I feel for MV Agusta. I had to wait a long time before I was finally able to climb astride an F4 of my own, and thumbing the starter button still produces a smile that is difficult to shift.
I will leave the reviews, road tests and expert analysis to the writings collected in this book. Much has been made in the motor cycle press recently about the aging design of the current F4, largely unchanged some 10 years after the first model's launch, but when you get so close to perfection improvement is going to take a serious effort. This portfolio draws on articles from three continents & traces the development of the prestigious MV Agusta F4 superbike from 1997 to the end of 2007. Included are road and comparison tests, riding impressions plus new model reports.
Models covered: 750cc Oro, Strada, S, Evo, Brutales also the 1000cc Tamburini, Mamba, the Brutale S910 & 1080 plus R & Biposto models. A total of 140 fully illustrated pages.
