This book covers Plymouth's musclecars of the 60s and very early 70s. In mid-1964 Plymouth launched its successful sporty compact, the 1965 Barracuda, and in 1966 the 425 horsepower Hemi engine was offered as an option on Plymouth's Belvedere and Satellite models, thus qualifying it for A/Stock and AA/Stock drag racing competitions and NASCAR's shorter circuits. In 1968 the hot Road Runner model was introduced which was identified by special wheels, Road Runner emblems and cartoon bird son both sides and rear. In 1968 and 69 Plymouth offered big-block models of its popular Barracuda and a mid-1970 variation of the Barracuda appeared, the AAR Cuda 340. A startling newcomer in 1970 was the Superbird, which had a special droop-snoot front end and huge tailfins carrying a stabilizing wing high above the rear deck. The Superbird looked fast and it was, with over 220 mph recorded by racing versions. This is a book of contemporary road & comparison tests, driver's impressions, new model intros & history. Models covered: Fury, Barracuda, Cuda, Satellite, VIP, GTX, Road Runner, Duster & Superbird. 140 pages, 350 illus. 15 pages colour.
