Large-capacity V-twins have always been the Harley-Davidson trademark, and the company has produced many trend-setting cruising bikes. In these, style has always been a vital ingredient, and the Glide series which began in 1949 with the Hydra-Glide and went on through the 1958 Duo-Glide and the 1965 Electra-Glide established a very special style. A look at Honda's Gold Wing makes quite clear that imitation is always the sincerest form of flattery. The FXR series was introduced in 1982, a year after the management buy-out led by Vaughn Beals which rescued Harley-Davidson from AMF ownership. Sales had dropped during the 1970s, and so had quality, but the FXR led the return to respect. The articles reproduced in this volume make clear why the FXR series was such an important part of the Harley-Davidson story, and will delight all enthusiasts of the marque. It contains 29 articles giving information on road & comparison tests, touring, technical analysis, specifications, performance data. Models covered: Super Glide II, Sport Glide, FXR, FXRS, FXRT, FXRDG, FXRD, FXLR, FXDB & FXDC.
